Sadako Sasaki (佐々木 禎子, Sasaki Sadako, January 7, 1943 – October 25, 1955) was a Japanese girl who was 2 years old when an American atomic bomb was dropped on Hiroshima on August 6, 1945, near her home next to the Misasa Bridge but survived. Sasaki became one of the most widely known hibakusha – a Japanese term meaning "bomb-affected person".
Sadako Yamamura (山村 貞子), is the central antagonist of Koji Suzuki's Ring novel series and the film franchise of the same name.Her name combines the Japanese words for "chaste" (sada) and "child" (ko).Sadako's fictional history alternates between continuities, but all depict her as the vengeful ghost of a psychic who was murdered and thrown into a well.
